About this role

Our client is a distinguished law firm seeking a dedicated Labor and Employment Attorney to join their Labor and Employment Law Practice Group. This role is focused on serving public sector clients and offers a unique opportunity to provide high-level legal advice on employment and traditional labor matters.

Unlike typical firms, our client operates as a unique public law firm handling government work through private competitive bidding. This is a chance to step away from the "churn" of standard BigLaw and focus on meaningful work that directly impacts communities, all while enjoying a culture that genuinely values inclusion and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to public sector and private clients regarding employment and traditional labor matters.

  • Handle a heavy volume of transactional labor and employment work.

  • Conduct high-level legal research, writing, and analysis.

  • Assist in employment litigation matters.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–8 years of experience in labor and employment transactional law.

  • Bar Admission: Active membership in the California Bar.

  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Background: Experience dealing with public law work (e.g., from boutique firms, Am Law, or City Attorney’s offices).

  • Skills: Exceptional writing, research, and analytical capabilities.

Why Join?

  • Flexibility: High flexibility with Remote or Hybrid options (90-95% of teams work remotely).

  • Compensation: $140k–$220k base salary (commensurate with experience) + Annual performance-based bonuses + Billable hour bonuses.

  • Reasonable Hours: Billable hour requirement is 1,850.

  • Growth: No book of business required for Tier 1 partnership; promotions are based on experience and drive, not just rainmaking.

  • Culture: Robust DEI Committee, Mentor Circles program, and a "Buddy System" for new associates.

  • Benefits: Competitive health insurance, 401(k) with partial match, and annual budgets for telecommuting and professional development.
