GMR is a full-service experiential agency with capabilities that span physical, digital, and social experiences. As our Account Director, you’ll serve as the senior day-to-day client partner for The Cigna Group, providing strategic leadership across lead engagement, activation, and execution for sports and athlete partnerships (NFL, NBA, WNBA). In your partnership, you will steward client and partner relationships, guide cross-functional teams, and ensure work consistently delivers business value, creative excellence, and seamless client experience.
You’ll play a critical role in shaping the long-term partnership with The Cigna Group, bringing executive presence, strong judgment, and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset to every engagement. This position sits within GMR’s Brand Experience team and works closely with clients, internal GMR solution centers, and Integrated Agency Team (IAT) partners to lead high-impact, multi-disciplinary programs.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Client Consulting & Strategic Leadership. You will serve as a trusted senior advisor to The Cigna Group, leading the development and delivery of integrated, multi-channel marketing programs that align to business objectives. You’ll provide clear, confident counsel rooted in deep client understanding, data-informed insights, and strategic rigor. You anticipate needs, navigate complexity, and articulate the “why” behind recommendations to drive impact and momentum.
- Relationship Management & Executive Partnership. You demonstrate strong relationship-building instincts, earning trust quickly, listening deeply, and showing up as a true partner to senior stakeholders. You’ll build durable, collaborative relationships across client, property, and internal teams, influencing effectively without authority and navigating challenges with maturity, discretion, and integrity.
- Connector & Integrator Mindset. You instinctively bring the right people, capabilities, and perspectives together at the right moments. You’ll act as the connective tissue across GMR solution centers and IAT partners, fostering collaboration and unlocking the full strength of the agency to deliver integrated, high-quality work.
- Client Business & Growth Orientation. You’ll develop a deep understanding of The Cigna Group’s business, priorities, and operating environment. You maintain a growth-oriented mindset with curiosity; proactively and consistently looking for ways to add value over time. You’ll identify opportunities to expand impact, strengthen partnership, and evolve the work in meaningful ways.
- Integrated Marketing & Cross-Functional Leadership. You’ll lead complex, cross-functional programs across experiential, sponsorship, content, media, digital, and social channels. You’ll partner closely with strategy, creative, production, and operations leaders to shape briefs, guide ideation, and ensure disciplined execution. You’ll create clarity for teams, manage multiple priorities, and maintain momentum across workstreams.
- Executive Maturity & Team Leadership. You bring executive polish and presence and will lead teams with empathy and accountability, setting clear expectations, providing guidance and feedback, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture that enables people to do their best work.
The annual range for this role varies between $90,000- $110,000 and may vary depending on the candidate’s experience. Benefits for this role include health/vision/dental insurance, 401k, employee stock purchase plan, vacation, personal days and paid holiday time. You are also eligible to participate in disability, life insurance, FSA/HSA plans subject to the terms and conditions of such benefit plans.
