HR Generalist:

The HR Generalist is responsible for the processing of payroll, benefits & retirement programs, and HR administration in the USA. The incumbent will also be responsible for recruiting and onboarding/offboarding processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately calculate and process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll, including variable compensation payments, and all applicable withholdings and deductions (benefits plan deductions, taxes, garnishments, sick leave, and other payroll deductions as applicable), and ensures 100% payroll accuracy.
  • Interprets pay legislation for external and internal compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with internal policies (vacation, personal time, sick time, statutory holidays, etc.).
  • Administer COBRA, & process garnishments.
  • Liaise with government agencies as applicable.
  • Support payroll tax reporting, audits, and year-end processes as needed.
  • Oversee and maintain payroll records and files.
  • Updates employee payroll schedules every beginning of each year.
  • Executes the planning, administration, documentation and delivery of the employee benefit program, retirement plans, invoice reconciliation, time off and leave programs & processes.
  • Supports the benefits renewal and approval process including coordinating discussions between benefit broker, local HR, and regional leadership.
  • Manage the Annual Benefits Open Enrollment cycle.
  • Collaborate with the benefit broker to evaluate existing benefit programs to ensure they remain competitive, compliant and cost effective, as well as identify new opportunities.
  • Provides analytics and insights/recommendations on enhancements to benefit program design, policy, philosophy, strategy, and technology.
  • Develop benefit communications and tools to promote ongoing program awareness, including materials for new hire onboarding and benefit summaries.
  • Manage disability claims and administers leaves.
  • Ensure that company benefits, and leave-of-absence policies comply with the local and federal legislations.
  • Provide excellent service by answering HR and payroll-related questions and resolving any issues in a timely and efficient manner for employees.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Prepare HR reports, statistics, and data upon request.
  • Responsible for full-cycle recruitment.
  • Initiates & reviews background checks for new hire screening, as well as ongoing credentialing requirements.
  • Process I-9 and use E-Verify in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Process verifications of employment.
  • Facilitate onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Support the annual compensation adjustment process.
  • Backup other team members as needed
  • Collaborate with the North American HR Team to ensure excellent service and efficient HR processes.
  • Contribute to HR & Payroll process improvements and special projects as required.
  • Support in all areas of employee lifecycle as needed.

Candidates are preferred to reside in the Denver, Colorado area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of federal, state, and local payroll laws and reporting requirements for multiple states.
  • Knowledge of federal and local state employment legislation and professional best practices applicable to HR (for multiple states).
  • Experience working with Paycor or similar payroll software.
  • Familiarity with payroll processes, benefits administration, and HRIS systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas).
  • Highly motivated, strong organization, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a remote team, as well as independently.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and process-driven approach to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels in the organization.
  • Open to working in an entrepreneurial environment
  • SHRM or PHR designation will be considered an asset.

Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Human Resources role handling Payroll, Benefits, Recruitment, and HR Operations in the USA.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources, Payroll Certification or related field.
