The Role
Augment is seeking a Reinsurance Contracts &WordingSpecialist to own and drive reinsurance contract/slipwording from submission through execution. This person will beaprimary resource for drafting, reviewing, negotiating, andfinalizingreinsurance wordings (treaty and/or facultative), ensuringthat Augment’s innovative deal structures are translated into clear,accurate, and commercially aligned agreements. In this role, you will support the development of contract certainty, provide clarity across multi-jurisdictional wordings, and help guide clients through the claims process with confidence and care. You will blend technical draftingexpertisewith collaborative problem-solving to support efficient, consistent delivery across the deal lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate, and refinequota share, excess of loss, aggregate, stop loss and facultative (as applicable)reinsurancecontracts,slips,I&L agreements,clauses, endorsements, andrelateddocuments with legal and commercial precisionto ensure contract wording reflects the intent of the negotiations.
- Embed wordings early in the placement lifecycle to remove friction, reduce rework, and accelerate market closure.
- Lead or support global claims processes including notification, investigation, negotiation, and settlement.
- Collaborate with brokers, legal teams, Technical Accounting, and analytics to align contract terms with operational realities.
- Work withbroker, wordings and legal colleagues to refine wordings, interpret policy language, resolve contract issues,andestablishbest practices.
- Enhance Augment’s clause library and contribute to continuous improvement in contract structure and defensibility.
Experience
- Exceptional drafting accuracy and analytical rigor.
- Demonstrated knowledge of reinsurance structures and how contract language impacts claims, accounting, and operational processes.
- Strong command of contract interpretation and clause mechanics; ability to spot inconsistencies across placement documents.
- Excellent written communication skillswith highcompetence in technical reading,writingand communicating inthe US and UK.
- Experience with common market forms and documentation practices.
- Strong legal and regulatory awareness across relevantjurisdictions.
- Ability to independently manage multiple concurrent documentation streams with precision.
- Solid understanding of P&C insurance.
- Collaborative and learning mindset.
Requirements
- 7+years’experienceinreinsurancecontract drafting.
- Experience inhandling complex (re)insuranceclaims.
- Experience in a broker, MGA, carrier, or reinsurer environment
- Exposure toparametric contract wordings a plus.
