About this role

About the Engagement

We are looking for a sharp, commercially minded strategist who can take fragmented data from across India's retail and consumer ecosystem and synthesize it into a coherent, forward-looking narrative. The final output will directly inform how a global initiative designs its India market strategy.

What You'll Do

You'll work closely with a global markets specialist to define research questions, then independently produce a multi-part strategic deliverable. The work covers seven thematic areas:

  • Demand-side dynamics and consumer behavior
  • E-commerce and retail channel evolution
  • Digital infrastructure and connectivity
  • Demand generation and marketing shifts
  • Rural vs. urban market trajectories
  • Income-based market segmentation
  • Comparative FMCG case studies

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or Bachelor's + 2 additional years of experience) in business, economics, marketing, econometrics, or a related field
  • Minimum 7 years in market research, strategy consulting, or business analysis within Indian retail and consumer goods
  • Strong demonstrated ability to synthesize macro data, market reports, and sector analyses into structured, insight-driven narratives
  • Excellent written English and the ability to produce data-rich, publication-quality reports
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup with a globally distributed team

Competencies

  • Strategic thinking — ability to see the big picture and connect macro-trends to category-specific implications
  • Analytical rigor — comfort working with fragmented data sources and constructing coherent trend lines
  • Communication — clear, concise writing with a consideration for diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Agility — flexible in approach, open to iterating based on feedback from the global team
  • Solution orientation — pragmatic, logical decision-making with a bias toward actionable insights
